Who We Are 

Michael Riley

Principal.

Michael founded Riland in 2003, after returning to Australia.  He has extensive experience in business expansion and new ventures, working with the commercialisation of a range of new and expanding companies.

During this period, Michael was also the inaugural Director of Venture Capital at Lend Lease Ventures – an AUD$200 million fund – until the end of 2008.  This global fund focused on cleantech opportunities related to Lend Lease’s core operations and sustainability values, such as low carbon building materials, renewable energies, and water recycling.

Previously, Michael was a partner in the Financial Services Strategy group of Accenture in London, where he gained many years of business strategy development, M&A, and business restructuring experience.  He was also head of the New Ventures Group in Financial Services, working as an advisor or as interim management to new and expanding businesses in the UK and the US.

Michael has been a Council Member of the Australian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association since 2007.

Michael has an MBA from London Business School, and bachelor and masters degrees in science from the University of Western Australia
